Missed Out on DistribuTECH 2017? Meet the Maxwell Team on FACEBOOK LIVE (VIDEO)
February 13, 2017 | Patrick Gaillard, MV and HV Product Marketing Manager
Maxwell Technologies Product Manager Thomas Heid gives an overview of the Combined Non-Conventional Instrument Transformer, a new CONDIS solution displayed at this year’s DistribuTECH.
All records were broken at DistribuTECH 2017! More than 13,000 attendees from 77 countries visited the exhibition held at the San Diego Convention Center.
Maxwell Technologies took this opportunity to present its new CONDIS® Solutions: the Broadband Powerline (BPL) Communication and the Combined Non-Conventional Instrument Transformer (NCIT). Many visitors showed great interest in these new solutions, and they confirmed that the digitalization of substations is only a matter of time.
The Combined NCIT is the latest CONDIS solution for power measurement and protection in digital substations. It consists of an Electronic Fiber-Optical Current Transformer (EFOCT) and an Electronic Voltage Transformer, based on a Capacitive Divider (EVTCD), integrated into a single unit, with a digital interface fully compliant to the IEC 61850 standard. It provides the high accuracy and reliability needed for revenue metering and protection purposes.
The Broadband Powerline Communication system has attracted the attention of several utility companies that see our system as a promising solution for communication in smart grids and mountainous regions such as the north east of the U.S.
The digitalization of the grid is not a trend: it’s a fact. It will continue inexorably via retrofit of aging products or through implementation in new substations. Maxwell is proud to be part of this future development in the grid and it was our pleasure to demonstrate the many benefits of our MV and HV products and solutions with customers and DistribuTECH attendees. The CONDIS team also shared boxes of Swiss chocolates with booth visitors—our local flavors were a hit!
Watch the Facebook LIVE video and interview below to meet the CONDIS team and get a closer look at our technologies.
