This spring, Maxwell Technologies showcased its 16, 75 and 160-volt modules for wind turbine electrical pitch control systems to OEM turbine manufacturers and other wind industry professionals at the 2015 AWEA Windpower Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Florida.
Wolfgang Beez, Maxwell’s senior business portfolio manager – wind, was featured in the conference video below.
"Since 1999/2000, our products have been designed in for electrical pitch systems providing fail-safe operations and backup power,” said Beez. "Today we have over 30,000 installed turbines relying on our products and technology. Some of the advantages our products have are low maintenance and long life, compared to traditional battery systems that are used in electrical pitch systems, and wide range of temperature.”
"We are also offering retrofit solutions for fielded batteries to provide O&M cost savings,” Beez added.
Maxwell will exhibit its ultracapacitor technology for wind turbines at the Husum Wind Fair in Husum, Germany in September.
