It’s worth visiting Hamburg—a center of international trade and unique maritime spirit. For the Maxwell team, Hamburg became the Wind Center for one week. Leading companies in the wind industry across the supply chain attended this year’s WindEnergy Show in Hamburg. Planners, manufacturers, suppliers, energy and service providers with operations onshore and offshore, showcased innovative products and solutions to better serve the wind sector.

The event became truly international and revealed itself as a unique meeting point to mingle with the major players and identify new partners in an ever-evolving market. Maxwell Technologies had a prominent presentation and was represented by Wolfgang Beez at the Speakers Corner. Freqcon’s ultracapacitor cabinet for grid stabilization, which employs Maxwell ultracapacitors, received the German Renewable Award 2016. The cabinet opened up interesting discussions about the stability of the grid and the quality of the energy supply. The joint Freqcon-Maxwell demonstration in Ireland shows positive results and proves the technological benefits which support our customers at the forefront of their business. While batteries are used in wind turbines for emergency power supply, they have poor temperature performance and require intense maintenance. Today, our ultracapacitors operate in more than 54,000 wind turbines worldwide to ensure emergency backup power and reliability of the pitch systems.

The event was a great opportunity to share our technology and increase awareness of our ultracapacitor solutions. Enjoy the photo slide show of the event below.
