The need for further CO2 reduction by automotive OEMs will lead to increasing electrification of the car. Additionally, innovative comfort and safety features will lead to new boardnet architectures (e.g 48V) that will be required to support these emerging new functions. These emerging new functions will serve as a critical part of driver safety and the overall driver experience. As such, they will require a reliable backup power solution in any event where the main power source (battery) is failing.

With their long operational lifetime, little or no maintenance requirements and stable operation at wide temperature ranges (-40C to +65C), ultracapacitors are the ideal technology for providing backup power in automotive applications.
