Maxwell Technologies RoHS Compliance

The growing market demands and regulatory requirements within the electrical and electronics industry has increased the industry-wide awareness of hazardous substances and their usage.

The European Union has issued a directive (RoHS-Directive 2002/95/EC), effective July 1st, 2006, restricting the use of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated phenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenylethers (PBDE) within certain electrical and electronics equipment as specified in the directive.

Maxwell Technologies and our partners recognize our responsibility as environmentally safe suppliers of components used as a part of electronic equipment falling under the criteria specified within the directive. We are completely committed to comply with the RoHS – Directive 2002/95/EC

As per our current assessment, none of our products contain –

  • Cadmium
  • Mercury
  • Hexavalent chromium
  • Polybrominated phenyls (PBB)
  • Polybrominated diphenylethers (PBDE)

Maxwell manufactures and sells certain products containing lead and currently do not meet the requirements of the directive. However as a part of being an environmentally responsible company Maxwell has developed an aggressive plan of compliance.

Maxwell is already underway in its compliance effort and has made significant headway towards compliance. We plan on manufacturing lead free products (as permitted by the directive) as specified in the RoHS Product compliance plan. Hence all the Maxwell products, which are affected by the directive, shall be RoHS compliant by end of March 2006.

Maxwell is committed to being an environmentally responsible supplier and shall continue to be compliant with existing and new worldwide environmentally safe practices and directives.
