Favorite Maxwell core value: Excellence
Why is that your favorite value?
Excellence is what sets individuals, companies and countries apart. Striving to do the best that you are capable of is a value I consider paramount. Even when my best seems to not be enough for certain goals or corporate objectives, I have no regrets because I know I have given my best and have grown and learned from the process.
What are your specialties at Maxwell?
My background is in materials, transportation technology, renewable energy and policy. I support the advanced technology team with the theoretical and practical aspects of our R&D projects and help anyone who needs pointers on how ultracapacitor systems fit into the big grid picture and how government policies play a hand in that landscape.
What do you enjoy about your role?
The most exciting part of my role is following the emerging technologies. Over the years, I’ve learned to discern the hype from the reality, and my more recent academic endeavor gave me a broader perspective on what Maxwell and other companies are doing to contribute to the new energy field and the emergence of renewable energy joining the old grid. I enjoy observing how all levels of technology, from the materials level to the grid level, play out their own parts in creating a better future.
Do you have any favorite pastimes?
Spending time with my kids—I have four! I enjoy relaxing and people watching (while watching my own children, of course).
What do you like to do in your city?
I just moved to Dongtan (a newly being-developed city just adjacent to the office), so I’m still learning about the city. When I lived north of here, I enjoyed going out with my family to the restaurants and areas that provide cultural enrichment. So far, Dongtan seems to offer a more relaxed suburban lifestyle in a modern urban setting.
