Communication

Communication

Power line carrier communication is mainly used for telecommunication, tele-protection and tele-monitoring between electrical substations through power lines at high voltages, such as 10 kV, 36 kV, 110 kV, 220 kV and 400 kV. The major benefit is the union of two applications in a single system, which is particularly useful for monitoring electric equipment and advanced energy management techniques.

Maxwell Technologies’ CONDIS® product division has in-depth experience in the development and commercialization of low-inductance coupling capacitors for power line carrier applications in high- and medium-voltage transmission. These applications enable utilities to communicate across existing power lines.
